Dear MoveCenter Experts: What is the best way for our transferees to ship heirloom, sentimental or expensive jewelry?
Wear it! We always recommend that jewelry be listed in your policy’s excluded items. While we have the utmost confidence in our preferred household goods movers, many of them will not ship expensive jewelry. Even when they are willing, we question whether the increased cost and inherent risk, albeit small, outweigh the convenience.
A best practice is for transferees to handle these items personally. MoveCenter encourages them to wear Grandma’s pearls and be the best-accessorized person on their flight!
