Dear MoveCenter Experts: We’re finding that our new hires tend to have pets, and when moving, they’re making exception requests, asking for pet moving costs to be covered. This currently isn’t addressed in our employee relocation policy they’re asking for pet moving, which isn’t addressed in our employee relocation policy. Should we consider adding household pet (e.g. cats, dogs) moving as a benefit?
Pets have always been important family members, and during the pandemic more families than ever brought home furry/fuzzy/feathery friends to join their clans. So yes, we suggest you include relocation benefits for pets.
Depending on your corporate culture and relocation program strategic objectives, your policy might include reimbursements for pet care during home finding trips, pet fees for temporary housing accommodations or pet movers for lengthy moves.
